Newcomers: Systems and applications

Applications and sites

As with most large large health care or educational institutions, UM operates many different information systems and software applications to serve its business functions -- a bewildering variety, in truth, but one which will become less bewildering after a while.  See the applications directory for an alphabetic list that includes links to most applications, systems and Web sites.

Many systems can be accessed by authenticating with your Medical ID and password.  Some systems are independently managed and may require access credentials in addition to (or different than) your Medical ID.  In the applications directory, click on the icon next to the link/listing for information about access and other instructions for use.

See the documentation directory for links to online copies of manuals and other documentation associated with applications, sites and services.  Each directory page in the applications directory usually has links to online documentation, FAQs and "Getting started" advice as well.

Education and training

In addition to application- and system-specific documentation, we have a collection of educational materials on the most common information systems issues.  We're writing new materials all the time.  Let us know what you need.

The education section also contains links to online resources for information systems users.  If you have a favorite Web resource that you think we should include, let us know.

Information technology training courses are provided on the Coral Gables campus, by the UM/CG Information Technology departments End-User Support Group
