Windows Vista is here, but do you need it?

Microsoft's newest version of Windows is not the best choice for everyone, at least not yet.  Why?  It takes "horsepower" that only newer PCs possess, most software applications run just as well on Windows XP, and applications that are incompatible with Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) won't run on Vista.

Friday May 4 is the last day to purchase computers from the Technology Store if you want to spend funds in this fiscal year.  If you're in the market for a new system, what kind should you buy?   We have advice on perennial questions like laptop vs. desktop, Apple vs. PC, and many others.
