Paging transition for UMMG affiliates

Wide-area paging services for UM Medical Center affiliates are provided by a number of commercial vendors, but the vast majority of persons use USA Mobility (a.k.a., Arch Wireless or Metrocall).  

Starting in 2007, UMMG affiliates are required to use only USA Mobility.   UMMG affiliates must use alphanumeric  rather than numeric pagers.   UMMG affilaites are not permitted to use text-message-enabled cell phones as an alternative to pagers.   For details of the policy, please contact UMMG administration.

As with mobile phone services, paging services are obtained directly from vendors by departments, using a departmental P-card or a Purchase Order.  Your department will need to establish an account with USA Mobility if it does not already have one.  Medical Purchasing can help you with that (call 305-243-6607).
