DST schedule changes (again)

Under the new expanded schedule, the end of Daylight Saving Time (DST) comes on November 4 instead of October 28 this year.  By now, most computers' software will be smart enough to hold off an extra week before "falling back."  But not all.  So be prepared for another (hopefully smaller) round of confusion about the time.

Use the Medical IT Help Desk

Medical Information Technology has a single point of contact for all your computer problems and questions (including what time it is).  Help Desk technicians can often resolve an issue in a single phone call, and if that's not possible a follow-up call or on-site support is scheduled.  Call 305-243-5999 or email help@med.miami.edu to reach a Help Desk technician.

No more connection charges

The monthly charge for connecting wired ("Ethernet") devices to the campus network is now a thing of the past.  Effective November 1, wired devices can be connected without charge to the network, just like wireless devices. (We still care about what you connect -- information security requires that all network devices be appropriately protected.)
