Trouble-shooting mobile phone problems
Advances in technology have turned mobile phones into devices with as many options as a new PC. Unfortunately, more options often mean more problems. Below, Medical IT presents simple things you can try to get your phone working again. We also have a list of common questions and answers that may help you with your mobile phone.
Things to try for general issues
It may seem like superstition, but there are some basic steps that can "reset" your phone and elminate many problems:
- Turn your phone on and off.
- Take the battery out and put it back in.
- If your phone has a sim card, try removing and replacing the sim card as well.
Questions and Answers
My phone is not reading the inserted memory card. What can I do?
If you have a media card reader or another phone that accepts the type of memory with which you are having problems, insert the memory into that device. If the memory card works on the second device, you know the problem lies with your phone.
My calendar is not syncing wirelessly. What can I do?
If your calendar is not syncing correctly, confirm in the calendar options that it is set to sync wirelessly.
The appointment times in my calendar are not correct on my phone. What can I do?
Check on a PC to make sure the time for the appointments is correct there. If everything looks fine on the PC, make sure your phone has the correct time zone setting.
I am not receiving email wirelessly. What could be the problem?
You may be in an area where data coverage is unavailable.
If your phone has the option, make sure the radio is set to the "ON" position.
I deleted an email on my phone, but it still shows up on my PC. What is the problem?
Emails may take up to 15 minutes to synchronize wirelessly. This also depends on data coverage in your area. Additionally, some phones have an option that determines whether emails deleted from the handheld are also deleted on the email server (and hence on your PC). Be sure it is set the way you want.
