Firewall services

The Medical Center network's firewalls provide a service that forms a secure zone between networked computers on the campus network and those outside it (e.g., on the Internet).  The network firewalls, in conjunction with several other security appliances, are critical to maintaining network operations.

The Medical Center network is continuously challenged from computers all across the globe that have a connection to the World Wide Web (Internet).  Our Network Engineering and Information Security groups manage more than 64,000 ports on the firewalls, determining what network traffic to let in and what to block.  For security reasons, we cannot disclose specific information relating to this activity.

If you need technical support relating to Medical Center firewall activities or have a third-party support team that needs to work with our Information Security team regarding traffic passing through the firewalls, please contact our Network Engineering group.

Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) services are also available for Web servers or other specialized requirements.
