Mobile Phone Edition

From what companies can I buy a mobile phone?

If you are purchasing a phone using UM funds, you are restricted to "vendorized" sellers, just as with any other purchase.  Phones are purchased directly from vendors by departments, using a P-card or a Purchase Order.

If you are purchasing a mobile phone with your personal funds, the choice of vendors is entirely up to you.  Visit the web site or the bricks-and-mortar store of the company whose products you prefer. For more information on purchasing a phone, click here.

My department has purchased a phone for me. How do I go about getting it set up to access my Medical School email, contacts, and calendar?

If you would like to try setting up the phone yourself, we have setup instructions for some phones here.

If you would rather have Medical IT walk you through the process, please call the Help Desk to speak to a technician. Additionally, if you have a Blackberry phone, there is no self-setup process.  Once you have activated the Blackberry (which must be provisioned with the Blackberry Enterprise unlimited data plan), bring it to Medical IT’s office in DPG 165. Pick-up and drop-off times are between 9 am and 4:30 pm.
