Changes to your network file storage - Home Directories and File Shares

 1. WHAT, WHEN AND WHY

Medical Information Technology is performing upgrades on the network file servers that store your personal home directories (usually your H: drive) and shared file directories.  The changes will increase the reliability and usability of these directories.  The upgrades will occur during the coming weekend, on January 3rd, starting at 11 p.m., to minimize disruptions to your work.

 2. EFFECTS ON YOU

Personal home directories and file shares will be unavailable during the first part of the upgrade, and may be unavailable during the entire upgrade window from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. Sunday.  Some Citrix features, specifically personalization of profiles, will be unavailable and an error message may be displayed during the upgrade window.

After the upgrade, it will be necessary to reboot your computer to assure correct mapping of the network files.

3. ACTIONS REQUIRED

If your computer is left on over the weekend, you will need to reboot on Monday morning. After rebooting, your home and shared directories should be available as before.

-- Windows users:

Restart Windows.  (Power your computer off and re-start it.)

-- Mac users:

Restart OS X. (Power off your computer and restart it.)

If your network files are still unavailable, contact the Help Desk at 305-243-5999.  The Help Desk can walk you through all necessary steps or, for on-campus Windows computers, perform the steps remotely without any action on your part.
