Wired campus network

When you are on campus, the Medical Center network can be accessed from either a wired Local Area Network (LAN) connection, as described here, or by using the campus wireless cloud.

When you're off campus, you will need to use a remote access method

Access and instructions

Full access to the network by any means is restricted to faculty, staff and students.  Third-party access requires specific authorization.  Limited "guest" Internet access is offered while connected to the wireless cloud.

For wired access, you must have an active network connection at a wall jack near the computer:   If you lack such a connection, you must place an order to obtain one.

Attach your computer to the network with Ethernet (RJ-45) cable.  The computer should be configured to use DHCP.  Your network card should get a link light (on the back of your computer).  If you have connection problems, contact the Help Desk.

Security considerations

Only approved devices should be connected to the campus wired network.  You may use personal devices over the wireless network -- such as a personal laptop -- but not on the wired network.  Note that all data traffic on the network is continously monitored and inspected by intrusion detection/prevention devices.
