Function

Magic/SDE is the Information Technology work order management system.  Work orders and calls placed to the Help Desk are entered into this system and given a priority for escalation.  Tasks are assigned by speciality.  You can check the status of a work order, or enter a new one, using this system.

Access

Magic is available to anyone with a university email address.  It is available while on the campus network as well as for those connected via Virtual Private Networking.

Additional considerations

When you use the system, you are creating a "Incident" -- that is, a report of a problem.  If an Incident cannot be fully resolved by the Help Desk, it will be escalated to a Work Order and be sent to other support groups for resolution and follow-up.
