Information for Students

If you are unfamiliar with information technology services on the medical campus, we suggest you begin with the overview in the Information for Newcomers before reading this page.  If you have a problem, or questions of any kind, you can always begin with our Help Desk.  It's open 24/7.  Use the Get Help form, send email to help@med.miami.edu or call 305-243-5999.

Core services and service providers

A summary of information technology services from the School of Medicine's Department of Information Technology is provided here, in the Core Services listing, and in other "Information for" pages.  For more detailed information, you can use the links in the services directory.

Medical Information Technology is one of several UM groups providing IT support and services for the medical campus.  For a list of the others, along with their functions and contact information, click here

Instructional resources

Most University classes make use of the Blackboard course management system to deliver course content and documents (e.g., syllabi) over the web.   All UM students and employees have access to Blackboard.

Employees can access training resources online through the ULearn learning management system.  (Students do not have access to ULearn at present.)

Library resources

Calder Library (medical campus) and Richter Library (Gables campus) maintain extensive electronic collections of journals and databases to support your studies.  You can access Calder's E-Resources and Richter's E-Resources both on-campus and remotely.  (Click on the links to learn more.)

Administration contacts

Extensive information about degree programs, requirements, etc., are available from the Miller School Office of Graduate Studies site.  Questions about your academic standing and enrollment status, grades, transcripts, etc., should be directed to the various UM registrar offices:
